An abacus is a kind of earliest/oldest calculating device based on decimal number system. It is used by sliding counters along rods to perform simple mathematical calculations. Such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

-         It was invented about 3000 years ago in China.

-         It is made from wooden frame.

-    It has two parts one is upper part /upper deck and another is lower part /lower deck.

-         Upper part is also called ‘heaven’ and lower part is called 'earth'.

-         Heaven and earth separated by beam.

-         Heaven contains 2(two) beads and earth contains 5(five) beads.
