A mouse is divided into four categories. They are:

(1)          Mechanical Mouse

(2)          Optical Mechanical Mouse

(3)          Optical Mouse

(4)          Cordless Mouse/Wireless Mouse

Mechanical Mouse:

This is the first mouse to hit the market. Now it feels very uncomfortable to use compared to USB and PS/2 mouse. It works with the help of a rubber ball. It is used in PI, PII computers. But its connector is 9 Pin Serial Port in a flat shape.

Optical Mechanical Mouse:

This is the second mouse to hit the market. This makes the mouse easier than a mechanical mouse. It also runs on a PIII computer with the help of a rubber ball. It is also called Optical Mechanical PS/ 2 Mouse.

Optical Mouse:

This is the third mouse to hit the market. This mouse is much easier than a mechanical mouse because a laser is used instead of a rubber ball. The optical mouse is divided into 2 parts depending on the port. They are:

1)  PS/2 Port Mouse

2)  USB Port Mouse

Cordless Mouse/Wireless Mouse:

This mouse is used for radio waves, especially on laptops. This is a wireless mouse. That connects to a computer without the use of wire.
